FRESH (Fresh gRoceries for Every Student’s Home) - CHILDREN'S WISHING WELL
Founded in 2002, we started as a help desk for latchkey kids. The Founder built a team that offered advice to students who seemed lost and lacked family support. Today, we provide a broad range of assistance. We offer monthly groceries, lunch pocket money and cooked dinners. Our signature program, Grant-A-Wish, helps needy students with necessities for education, health and basic living. We have thus provided spectacles, hearing aids, sports shoes or equipment, book vouchers and household items. Even fumigation services.

FRESH (Fresh gRoceries for Every Student’s Home)

In addition to providing groceries packed and delivered to homes, we organise supermarket shopping trips, where children from low-income families shop for what they really like and need, within a budget of $30 per child (budget is borne by the volunteers). They learn about nutrition, budgeting, and decision-making – skills which will have broader impact on their lives. Volunteers will teach the children how to choose nutritious and value-for-money food. Level of interaction with children is high and the time commitment is about 2 hours per session.

Step 1: Volunteers give a talk to the large group on nutrition / healthy eating / budgetting

Step 2: Volunteers are paired with one or two children to make a shopping list

Step 3: Shopping with volunteers (one volunteer is paired with one to two children)

Step 4: Debrief and large group sharing about shopping experience

  • Cost of session ($30 per child, to  be borne by volunteer)
  • Weekday and Weekend slots available across various CWW Sites
  • 2-way transport at an estimated cost of $150 is needed for some of our sites

If you are interested to conduct a FRESH event, please email to with your number of volunteers (minimum 5) and our staff will assist you.
