Another run of Groceries for Families-FRESH session – a program the children always look forward to!

On 5 July, our friendly volunteers from Frank Recruitment Group brought the children out to the nearby supermarkets to purchase fresh groceries to share with their families back at home. With each passing session, the children have learnt how to budget and confidently purchase groceries- including checking the expiry dates and checking for signs of freshness. Many even insist on carrying and picking out the items themselves without any assistance. As we focus on a healthy lifestyle for our children, we attempt to ban snacks and treats. But completely eliminating sweets and favorite snacks can backfire as, if kids feel deprived, they might overeat off-limits foods when they’re not home.As such, instead of taking a hard line or completely giving in, we aim for moderation.

We certainly hope to continue instilling such positive skills and values in them with the help of our volunteers during the upcoming GFF-Fresh sessions. Thank you Frank Recruitment Group for spending another Friday afternoon with us. See you soon!
